Weekly Program Highlights - 2007
12-05-2007: President Robert Diaz with Mr.Sunil Modi, a Yoga instructor and a business man. Sunil gave an introduction to Yoga. He also taught the members some basic Yoga exercises.
11-28-2007: Vice President Prakash Pisipati with Kimberly Greco of South Oaks Hospital. Kimberly provided valuable information about the proper handling of medications we all use on a regular basis.
11-21-2007:President Robert Diaz with Jamie Bogenshutz of YES community counseling center, Massapequa. YES is a non-profit, community based agency serving the various needs of youth, adults and families. Their service includes substance abuse treatment.
11-21-2007:Installation of new member James Carney by President Robert Diaz. Bill Carman Jr., pins the new member with a Rotary lapel pin. Jim's Classification is "real estate appraiser".

11-14-2007:President Robert Diaz with Barbara Swanwick, a certified hypnotherapist. Ms. Swanwick discussed some of the uses of hypnotherapy. It can be used to help people stop smoking, stop overeating, reduce stress, perform well in sports. (516) 944-6639.
11-07-2007: Dr.Hubert Keen, President of SUNY Farmingdale with Rotary President Mr. Robert Diaz. Dr.Keen informed the Rotarians of the new initiatives at the college. They are offering more job oriented and specialized courses to the students. (www.farmingdale.edu)

10-31-2007: President Robert Diaz with Suffolk County Legislator Wayne Horsley and Suffolk County Chief Information Officer Sharon Cates-Williams. The speakers summarized the many projects that are being done to improve the route 110 corridor. They also spoke about the WiFi wireless technology being implemented in Suffolk and Nassau counties.

10-10-2007: Presidetn Bob Diaz(L) with Brian Whiting(C) of USO, Inc. and Vice President Prakash Pisipati(R). Brian educated the members with the activities of USO, which supports the military families with various activities. Brian is looking for volunteers to expand the USO operations.
10-10-2007: Installation of new member, Cathy Firetog by Presidetn Bob Diaz(R). Ted Firetog, Cathy's husband, is the proud sponsor. They are the first "Rotarian Couple" at Farmingdale Rotary.
10-03-2007: Presidetn Bob Diaz with Helen Norjen of Woodlands Civic Association. Helen expressed her concerns about larger planes landing at Republic airport.
09-19-2007: Presidetn Bob Diaz(C) with Commissioner of Nassau County Boy Scouts John Koch(L) and Joe Leone(R) of troop 261.
09-12-2007: Presidetn Bob Diaz(R) with District Governor Nominee Ravi Bhooplapur. Ravi explained the matching grants process and encouraged the clubs to make use of the grants for service projects. 09-05-2007: Presidetn Bob Diaz(L) with District Governor Sammy Hsiao(C).. DG Hsiao gave an informative update on the district activities.
08-29-2007: Presidetn Bob Diaz(L) with Farmingdale Mayor George Graf (C) andVice President Prakash Pisipati(R). Mayor Graf presented a detailed update on the village activities. 08-22-2007: Presidetn Bob Diaz(R) with Dr.Aaron Glatt, President and CMO of New Island Hospital. Dr.Glatt informed the members of the hospital's new initiatives.
08-15-2007: President Bob Diaz(R) and Mike Muchmore(L) with GSE team leader to Mexico - Bill Jacobs. 08-08-2007: President Diaz with Kip Johansen of Waves group.Among other things, Kip makes boat rides accessible to handicapped children.
08-01-2007: Club assembly. Former District Governors Eileen Gentilcore and Artie Vanderpool present Kevin Bagnasco with the District’s outstanding service award and with a Paul Harris award of a blue sapphire stone pin 07-25-2007: President Diaz introduced Jennifer Pedicini, our Halsey Knapp scholarship Winner and Kevin Siegel, our Albert Meyerstein scholarship winner. They will be attending SUNY at Farmingdale and Binghamton respectively.
07-18-2007: Boy Scout Rotary scholarship winner James Loughlin was present along with the scoutmaster Ed Schmidt of Troop 261. Ruth presided.
07-11-2007: Vice President Prakash Pisipati introduced mental health counselor Michael Stolz of the Clubhouse of Suffolk, a mental health rehab center.

05-30-2007:President Ted Firetog conducted the meeting. The speaker was David Sobocinski who is Senior VP of Citigroup Smith Barney. He was assisted by Mark Remigio, Financial Advisor.

 

05-16-2007: The speaker was James Callahan III who is the commissioner of the Nassau County Community Emergency Response Team. He told the Rotarians that good communication is the key to surviving such emergencies as a hurricane or terror attack. President Ted Firetog on the right.

03-21-2007: Vice President Bob Diaz introduced a new member, Mary Ann Mangels(L), who gave her classification talk. Also in the picture - President Ted Firetog(C) and another new memebr Ann Falco(R).

03-07-2007: Mr. Diaz introduced Dr. Duffy Spencer who is a social psychologist. She lectures on human social issues, is a licensed mental health counselor and has her own radio program. (Ted is on the right)

02-07-2007:VP Robert Diaz introduced author David Mercaldo. David read excerpts from his new book “Seamstress.” This fiction book is about the lives of some ofthe women who were victimized…

01-03-07: Robert Diaz  introduced our long time esteemed member Robert Nostrand who treated us to a travel slide show of his recent trips to Caribbean, Russia and France. Bob is a retired architect who has traveled extensively.
